The May edition of the Atomic Sketch Event will take place on Thursday May 27th, from 6 to 10 pm, at the evilOlive nightclub, located at 1551 W. Division Street in Chicago's Wicker Park. Atomic Sketch Event continues its history of providing a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their creative process while also providing art fans a venue to purchase unique pieces of art for inexpensive prices.
The formula for the Atomic Sketch Event - a formula that continues to great success - allows the pursuit of art to take place in a welcoming, social environment. Artists from the Chicagoland area and abroad are invited to participate with a panel who will create art throughout the night. Media ranges from pencil and ink drawings to paintings and collage with styles ranging from pop, lowbrow and classical. As each work is completed, the finished pieces are put on display and sold for extremely affordable prices. In many cases, artists whose studio work sells for hundreds or even thousands of dollars will sell pieces for less than $50. This month DJ Betynka steps behind the turntables will spin brit pop, indie and garage.
